A clear purpose

The SCM World Community exists to advance the profession of supply chain. Our Vision is to Shape the Future of Supply Chain for consumers, for business and for the benefit of society.

Our History

SCM World started life as a small independent company – the brainchild of two people working in a barn! It all began with a collection of webinars and selling individual licenses to access them.

Dr Hau Lee, Thoma Professor of Operations, Stanford Graduate School of Business, joins as chairman and we started selling company-wide memberships not individual licenses.

2011

We established the SCM World Leaders Forum – the invitation-only retreat for the supply chain and operations elite.

2012

SCM World begins primary research into the future challenges facing the profession – under the guidance of the new Executive Advisory Board.

2013

We redefine community learning launching our three-tier programme and host the first SCM World Live event in America.

2014

SCM World Live goes European with our first supply chain forum in Barcelona attracting supply chain practitioners from right across Europe.

2015

With a fast-growing number of members in the US, we open our Boston office. Our international success story wins a Queens Award for Enterprise and we’re listed in both the Sunday Times Fast Track and Export Fast Track as one of 100 highest growth small companies in the UK.

2016

We’re listed in the Sunday Times Fast Track 2016 and named a City AM “Leap 100” company which lists the top 100 entrepreneurial businesses in the UK.

2017

Now an important part of Gartner Supply chain, the community continues to grow.  A new product suite for Global Chief Supply Chain Officers combines the best Gartner insight, models and analysts with SCM World community content and forums.

A global community.

A cross-industry perspective.

We care

We work with our members and beyond the SCM World community to deliver on our vision for supply chain to provide the solution to world issues. The SCM World community has identified three key areas where supply chain can create and deliver a change in the world: universal access to healthcare, the global distribution of food and environmental sustainability. Supply chain leaders and their teams continue to demonstrate that social and environmental sustainability can also be a pillar of profitability.

We also support a charity that is particularly personal to us: Taylor-Made Dreams Taylor Made Dreams.

Taylor-Made Dreams’ vision is that children with a life threatening conditions will have the opportunity to fulfil their dreams and also provide the family with support by trained therapeutic professionals. Primarily its aim is to assist in the creation of a unique ‘Bucket List’ which is ‘TAYLOR-MADE’ to meet the specific needs and desires of the individual child with a critical illness. Its objective is to enable children and their families to experience unique quality time and experiences together, which otherwise may not have been possible without financial and empathetic emotional support.

Governance

In June 2016 SCM World was acquired by Gartner – the world’s leading research and advisory company.

The SCM World community, and the team of people that support it, are part of Gartner’s Supply Chain division which is led by Oliver Sloane, former CEO and Founder of SCM World.
